Source texts with ampersands (&) in them may be cut off during translation. A fix has been submitted to Apple and should reach the App Store shortly.

Does Translate work when my Mac is not connected to the Internet?
Unfortunately, no. Translate uses the public Google Language Tools to provide translations; if it can't communicate with Google's servers, it won't be able to translate for you. Otherwise it would be in the Travel section—and at least ten times the price!
